In collaboration with my creative friend, Emma McKee aka StitchGawd, presented me with an extraordinary opportunity to collaborate with her on the creation of custom footwear for the iconic Chicago Bulls mascot, Benny The Bull. My role encompassed the design of the shoe’s silhouette from the ground up, as well as the incorporation of distinctive elements that would be sewn onto the footwear for Benny’s use during games. These custom-designed shoes were crafted to harmonize seamlessly with the Chicago Bulls City Edition jerseys, which commemorate the rich history of the original Chicago Stadium. The design incorporates elements that evoke the spirit of the first three Bulls Championships, represented by the three distinctive horns on the sides of the shoe. The all-encompassing red suede pays homage to the iconic red shoes worn by Benny during the 1990s. The four gold stars symbolize the stars emblazoned upon the Chicago Flag, while the ombre/gradient pink and orange laces capture the essence of Benny’s distinctive hairstyle. A captivating illustration of Benny’s face adorns the tongue of each shoe, while the back tabs proudly display the annals of Chicago Stadium’s existence, spanning from 1929 to 1994.
